Movement Day [MD]
Movement Day (MD) is more than a day! It’s a movement of Christian leaders impacting a city together through the Gospel. The goal of a MD expression, which can range from a one-to-three day gathering, is to accelerate a gospel movement- catalyzing highly trained, motivated and committed leaders determined to find solutions to the “stubborn facts” plaguing a city or region. We define “stubborn facts,” as crime, poverty, spiritual apathy, struggling educational systems, unemployment, etc. Our approach: multiply the impact of one, through the unity of many.

What is Movement Day FOR ORF?
Movement Day (MD) New York was launched in 2010, as a one-day to three-day gathering of ministry, marketplace and nonprofit leaders passionate about cities and the Gospel of Jesus, coming together across denominational, ethnic, geographical, and socio-economic lines. Over 32,000 city leaders have been trained.
Those called to lead these gatherings are individuals with a vision for God accelerating a gospel movement in their city, individuals eager to link arms with other leaders who desire to see the Body of Christ come together. Movement Day Expressions is the vehicle through which we serve the launch of these gatherings across the globe.
FOR Norfolk [FOR ORF] was formed in April 2019 to re-energize a number of city wide initiatives, some of which go back decades. Prayer has been the cornerstone to all successful movements in the past and accordingly, FOR ORF is undergirded in prayer. We are partnering with MovementDay.org to help us continue “God’s call”, the work, that so many have sacrificed to for many years. A group of community leaders began to pray together weekly in July. As the relationship of this group grew, their collective burden for the racial and denominational division in the Church and the needs of our city grew exponentially.
During the formation period, the founding team of FOR ORF defined two major issues that FOR ORF would engage:
· The Church in Norfolk is divided; and
· The Church in Norfolk is declining.
As this vision began to take hold with pastors and Christian leaders across the city, it became clear that no single church could lead this unified effort. Rather, it would require a neutral convening organization operating as a platform to connect all churches, denominations, nonprofits and organizations wanting to seek the transformation of the city.
